Film, Sound and the Sea

Sonia Levy is an artist-filmmaker and researcher exploring changing aquatic environments through film and sound. Currently in Faial for the EU-funded TIDAL ArtS residency, she is developing a project with musician Bint Mbareh, combining underwater sound, collective voice and exchanges with local communities and marine scientists.

Sonia will show her earlier film We Marry You, O Sea (2024, 20 min), which explores the Venice Lagoon from an underwater perspective. This screening will offer a look into her work and how it relates to her new research in the Azores.

After the film, there will be time for conversation and sharing ideas. She would love to hear what you think!
