Third International Symposium on Plastics in the Atlantic (Atlantic Plastic 2026), taking place this week in Reykjavík, Iceland!

Yesterday, Christopher Pham presented the Azores Marine Litter Group’s research on Cory’s shearwaters (Calonectris borealis) as bioindicators of plastic pollution in the marine environment.

Today, Lena Schaffeld presented her master’s thesis research on microplastic exposure in filter-feeding mobulas.

Overall, the Azores Marine Litter Group is contributing to eight presentations across the conference programme, covering topics ranging from deep-sea and pelagic environments to marine megafauna and coastal monitoring.

These contributions reflect the breadth of the group’s research and its commitment to advancing knowledge of plastic pollution and its impacts on marine ecosystems.
