Ana Colaço participates in ICES Working Group on Marine Protected Areas

Our colleague Ana Colaço participated this week in a meeting of the Working Group on Marine Protected Areas and other Spatial Conservation Measures (WGMPAS), organised by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) in Cork, Ireland.
The working group brings together experts from different countries to strengthen the scientific evidence supporting the planning and management of marine protected areas (MPAs) and other spatial conservation measures.
Its main areas of focus include ecosystem-based management, the integration of climate change considerations into marine spatial planning and conservation, and the development of strategies to strengthen ecosystem resilience and protect marine biodiversity.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists and conservation practitioners, WGMPAS promotes knowledge exchange, produces scientific guidance and contributes to the development of evidence-based solutions for sustainable ocean management.
